This project aims to improve people's awareness, encourage understanding of conflict-related sexual violence(CRSV) against men, boys, and LGBTIQ+ persons, and provide an opportunity for disclosure of their testimonies.
The problem of CRSV against women and girls has gained sustained attention globally through constant efforts of national and international organizations, governments, organized civil Societies, and celebrities in the past two decades.
On the other hand, information regarding CRSV against men, boys, and LGBTIQ+ persons remains scarce and vague.
The reason is that many men, boys, and LGBTIQ+ victims often tend to hesitate to talk about their own experiences of sexual violence with families, friends, and communities due to discrimination, persecution, prejudices caused by some myths, or fear of retaliation by perpetrators.
Myths such as "only gay men are sexually assaulted", "all raped men become gay", " they wanted or enjoyed the assault" or "if they are true men, they can help themselves" regarding men, boys, and LGBTIQ+ victims are often contribute to avoiding seeking healthcare services and disclosure.
Therefore, many of them have hardly been able to receive appropriate support even though they have suffered from severe and long-term health and social impacts of sexual violence.
Ultimately, this project would be one of the interventions against CRSV to avoid sexual violence against all people.
