Ambiente Familiar

Ambiente Familiar is a photographic exploration of a 5.5-mile stretch in Miami, Florida—the sweltering, tropical heart of the contiguous United States—and the multicultural, multigenerational immigrant community that inhabits it. This project captures portraits, interiors, and street scenes that reveal the resilience and challenges faced by residents as they navigate economic hardship and political uncertainty amid a rapidly changing environment. Set against the backdrop of a charged election season, the work invites viewers into the lived realities of both long-time residents and newcomers as they contend with and resist invisible forces of power, migration, and destiny. Through a classic dialogue between image and text, Ambiente Familiar offers insight into what it means to belong and survive in a deeply layered corner of America.
