Nation Building is a series photographed during the final stages of construction at the recently completed National Museum of Qatar.
In recent years, hundreds of thousands of workers have flocked to Qatar amidst an unprecedented construction boom. Qatar has a questionable human rights record in relation to the treatment of this workforace. It was some of these very same workers who were employed to construct the museum, a monument to the history of Qatar.
The series aims to capture this juxtaposition between the prestigious grand scale architectural project and the undervalued immigrant workers. The museum is a building Qatar wants the world to see, built by the immigrant labour force it would prefer to remain undocumented.
