The Empty Chair

The Empty Chair Series: I had started to study photography in Guatemala but when I moved back to Washington DC, I had no idea how to move forward, make my dream of becoming an artist a reality. I felt without direction in my life. I started this series to reflect this feeling, this emptiness. The empty old chair clearly captured in my mind this difficult moment. But at the same time, I wanted to grab hope and not just desperation. That’s why in each image, the empty chair is not alone from my faithful companion, my dog Elsa, to a dancer that brings joy to life.
