I'm interested in the living conditions of African migrant workers in the Plain of Gioia Tauro, in southern Italy. They pick oranges earning 20 euros a day. After the Rosarno revolt against racism (2010), they have been forced to live in a tent city. A place made for 300 people was invaded by over 1,200 migrants. The living conditions have become intolerable due to lack of funds for the management of the place. My work witnesses this place (February-April 2013). At this time of year, african migrants are out of work but continue surviving in the camp, waiting for new migrations.
I have done my best to take pictures by using all my respect for migrant workers. I am still working in the tent city to continue my reportage of migrant workers in the Plain of Gioia Tauro.
