The closest voice that we have never heard…
The *Sunday Girls* series is a long-term photography project that explores the untold stories of domestic helpers in Hong Kong, a city where over 350,000* individuals work as domestic helpers. Hong Kong is one of the few places in the world where domestic helpers play a significant role in sharing the burden of household responsibilities, yet their voices often remain unheard.
In this project, the artist invited domestic helpers to share their personal journeys: why they left their families to work overseas, their dreams and aspirations, and how they spend their precious day off on Sundays. Despite the challenges they face, many of these women pursue extraordinary activities, showcasing resilience, creativity, and ambition. The project also includes a series of documentary videos that further amplify their stories.
Through 'Sunday Girls', the artist aim to response stereotypes and celebrate the strength, creativity, and humanity of domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
