"Outside MY Windows 930am" is a photographic series that captures the quiet, everyday lives of an elderly couple waiting for the bus outside the artist's window at 9:30 every morning. This project is not just a documentation of routine but a reflection on the beauty of ordinary moments and the stories that unfold in the most familiar spaces.
The series draws inspiration from the artist's childhood, growing up in public housing estates where outdoor play was restricted. Instead, he found entertainment and curiosity by observing the world through his window. Decades later, this childhood habit evolved into a creative exploration of photography, where the artist discovered that meaningful stories and themes often exist right in front of us, without the need to venture far.
The project also delves into the evolution of contemporary photography, demonstrating how concept development, production, and presentation can all take place within the confines of a single room. From conception to capturing, editing, and sharing, the series showcases how modern photography can thrive in the most intimate and personal spaces.
The artist adopted a serendipitous approach to the project, capturing the couple only when circumstances allowed. If he left the house early or woke up late, the moment would pass unrecorded. Initially, he had no intention of photographing the couple, nor did he anticipate their consistent appearance at the same time each day. Over time, their presence sparked curiosity and questions: *Will they appear tomorrow? Are they happy together? Where did the man go today? Why is someone else accompanying him?
"Outside MY Windows 930am" is a meditation on time, routine, and the quiet connections we form with the world around us. It invites viewers to reflect on the unnoticed stories unfolding in their own lives and to consider: As time passes, who else waits with you at 9:30 every morning?
