About Young June Kim

After graduating from Hongik University in Seoul, where I specialized in sculpture, I studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, France, in 2006, under the guidance of Tom Drahos and Marcel Dinahet, and obtained the National Diploma in Plastic Arts. I enrolled in the Bachelor of Photography at the University of Paris 8 and in 2015 passed the diploma of Master specialty Photography and contemporary art, specializing in A Photographic Aesthetics of Sculpture, under the supervision of Michelle Debat and Arno Gisinger.

Selected for the 2026 program of Les Photographiques Festival (38th edition), Le Mans, France, I was also one of the laureates of the MH Talent Portfolio (Korean Emerging Artist) 2024/2025 at Museum Hanmi—formerly the Museum of Photography, Seoul (MoPS)—in 2023. I was shortlisted for the LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards 2023 (Single Photo category). My work was shown at the Nancy Biennial of Photography, « L’Évènement Photographique », in 2021. In 2016, I was one of eleven artists shortlisted by Diane Dufour, director of the BAL in Paris, for the HSBC Prize, and also shortlisted for the Bourse du Talent #68, in the category “Espace, Paysage, Architecture.”

My work is part of the collection of Madeleine Millot-Durrenberger.
