In this project I take insect metamorphosis as a starting point for the process of becoming who you wish to be, of finding a form in which to position yourself in a complicated and demanding world.
Every person goes through metamorphosis, even though it manifests differently from the lives of insects, who's transformation we often use in expressions to elaborate on our personal change: I am coming out of my cocoon, I am shedding my old self.
In this series I take my images through a similar process of transformation. Using methods such as polaroid emulsion lifting, superimposition and cropping, I explore how photographic methods morph, layer and shift to represent the processes of becoming and finding one's form.
